Artwork cataloguing for artists and galleries

CloudCat began as an artist's own catalogue, a place to keep every work, every edition, every sale in order, and an easy way to send a list of available works to a collector or friend. Before, sending that list meant piecing scattered information together (a spreadsheet here, a folder of half-named photographs there) and an overwhelming afternoon laying out a PDF by hand.
CloudCat is built from a studio in Cape Town, and we catalogue our own work in it, the same as you would. We draw on decades of software engineering and hold it to the discipline of a catalogue raisonné (the complete, authoritative record an artist keeps of their work) brought to a living practice: serious infrastructure, a public API on top of your catalogue, and a full export in open formats whenever you want, so your data stays yours. Because we answer to the people who use CloudCat rather than to investors, we build for the long term. If something feels clunky, could be improved, or is missing, write to us.
What guides this work
Built with purpose
One tool for one job: keeping an artist's or gallery's catalogue in order. We'd rather get a few small things genuinely right than pile on options and checkboxes for the sake of it.
A quieter kind of software
No streaks, no badges, no notifications tugging at your attention. CloudCat should be useful the moment you open it and out of your way the moment you close it.
Designed from listening
We listen first, then build. Most of what's good here started as a conversation with an artist or a gallery telling us what they actually needed.
Independent and user-funded
Funded by the people who use it, and answerable to them, not outside investors. That lets us keep it small, focused, and built to last.
Your work stays yours
Your catalogue is yours, not a profile for advertisers, not a product on the side. One click exports everything (catalogue, invoices, sales, contacts and original images, in open formats: JSON, plus your original image files) at any time. Cancel and your data stays downloadable for 90 days, so you always leave with your own copy.
